Make Love In Love
This song talks about promiscuity. Waking up with someone you don't really know and the emptiness in that.
I am often asked whether or not I've been "in love". I always say "no". That generally surprises people. I have loved women but I don't believe that I have ever known "in love" or "true love". In fact, I have the belief that few people have experienced that. Even many married couples!
I have a kind of fairytale, hopeless romantic idea of being in love. Most people settle for much less in relationships for a variety of reasons. Meanwhile, it sometimes seems that "my heart is out there on the run, being chased around by everyone".
The song also deals with the struggle between instinct and conscience. Instinctively, I love women, but is it right to give into that instinct when your conscience often tells you you shouldn't?
Ultimately, in this song, I am searching for what I imagine to be an amazing state of being - two people fully in love with each other and the depth of feeling that therefore must exist during lovemaking.
The being "free" part is being free from yourself and/or someone else, in order to experience being "in love". It's a pretty powerful thing and most people know precious little about it, including me!
